What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners are removable orthodontic appliances that place mild pressure on your teeth and jaw. Over time, that pressure improves their position, resulting in a more balanced and symmetrical smile.

What does orthodontic treatment with clear aligners involve?

If the team at Sauer Dentistry determines that you can benefit from clear aligners, they take a digital scan of your mouth with the 3D computed tomography (CT) scanner. Your provider uploads the images to a SureSmile software program that allows them to develop a custom orthodontic treatment plan.

After your provider finalizes the treatment plan, they send it to the SureSmile dental laboratory. A team of technicians at the laboratory uses your scans to manufacture a set of SureSmile aligners that fit over your teeth perfectly.  

When the lab completes your SureSmile aligners, you return to Sauer Dentistry and try them on. During the treatment, you return to the office every few weeks. At each check-up, you get a new set of SureSmile aligners. 

To ensure you achieve the desired results, it’s important to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, even when you sleep. 

How long does treatment with clear aligners take?

Most people complete treatment with SureSmile clear aligners in 12-18* months. That said, it may take longer depending on your age, adherence to the treatment plan, and the issues addressed. The team monitors your progress at each check-up and lets you know what to expect.
